Threave is a favourite place of mine to visit. Sometimes with my camera, sometimes my sketchbook, often with my dogs and occasionally with camera, sketchbook and dogs which makes for a very interesting and challenging combination. My dogs haven't yet learned to move quietly in and around bird hides!

I'm really enjoying the built environment at the moment and Threave Estate provides the perfect base for sketching interesting farm buildings. Here are some sketches from different visits during last winter. I got up early and headed for the stepping stones hide, it's there I stayed for several hours watching, sketching and drinking tea from my flask. A perfect morning out.
